1. What The Odd Job Is
The Odd Job is a platform for organising local trade work between clients and tradesmen. It helps users create requests, send quotes, keep job records, manage payment choices, review completed jobs, submit reports, and contact administration where needed.
The Odd Job helps run the platform. It does not become the client, the tradesman, the employer, the contractor carrying out the work, or the legal party responsible for the trade service itself.
- Account registration and login for clients, tradesmen, administrators, and enabled business users.
- Client request tools for describing a job and contacting a tradesman.
- Tradesman profile, availability, credential, quote, and job management tools.
- Job record tools for requests, quotes, documents, payment records, reviews, reports, and admin notes.
- Payment options where available, including card payment workflows through Stripe and recorded cash or bank transfer workflows.
- Admin review tools for safety, credential checks, reported users, payment review, and platform misuse.
- Business account tools by contract only, where enabled separately.
- For the safety of all users, TheOddJob users must be 18 or older.
2. Fair Use For All Users
The Odd Job is intended to be fair to clients, tradesmen, and business users.
- Clients do not get unfair priority over tradesmen.
- Tradesmen do not get unfair priority over clients.
- Business accounts do not get special treatment that disadvantages normal clients or individual tradesmen.
- Platform rules, account safety checks, report handling, and admin decisions should apply consistently to all user types.
- Search, visibility, review, and safety features should be used to support trust and usability, not to unfairly favour one user group.
- Users must treat other users respectfully and must not harass, threaten, pressure, mislead, or discriminate against other users.
The Odd Job is not an emergency service. If there is immediate danger, risk of injury, fire, gas, electrical, flooding, or any other urgent safety issue, users should contact the relevant emergency services or emergency professional directly.
3. Client Accounts
Client accounts are for people or organisations looking for trade work to be carried out.
Client features may include:
- Creating an account and managing profile details.
- Searching for tradesmen by trade, service area, availability, and public profile details.
- Creating a service request with job details, location information, photos, documents, or notes.
- Viewing request status, quotes, payment options, receipts, documents, reviews, and job history.
- Choosing available payment methods for a job.
- Leaving a review after a completed job.
- Reporting unsafe, abusive, misleading, or unsuitable behaviour.
- Contacting administration where account, report, payment, or safety review is required.
Client limits and responsibilities:
- Clients must provide accurate contact, location, and job details.
- Clients should only upload information that is relevant to the job and that they have permission to share. Uploads may fail if files prove to be unsafe or corrupt.
- Clients must review a quote before accepting work or choosing a payment method.
- Clients must not make false reports, false reviews, fake jobs, or misleading payment claims.
- Clients must not use tradesman contact details for spam, harassment, resale, or work unrelated to the request.
- Clients are responsible for deciding whether a tradesman is suitable for the work, especially where regulated, licensed, insured, or specialist work is involved.
- TheOddJob may ask a client to contact administration where repeated reports, safety concerns, account misuse, or payment concerns need review.
4. Tradesman Accounts
Tradesman accounts are for users offering trade services through the platform.
Tradesman features may include:
- Creating an account and public tradesman profile.
- Selecting a trade, service area, and availability status.
- Receiving service requests from clients.
- Accepting or declining work requests.
- Sending quotes and job notes.
- Uploading credential information for admin review.
- Managing payment preferences where available.
- Viewing job details, documents, payment status, reviews, and request history.
- Sending quote records or receipts where supported.
- Reporting client misuse, unsafe behaviour, false information, or payment problems.
Tradesman limits and responsibilities:
- Tradesmen must provide accurate profile, trade, credential, service area, and availability information.
- Tradesmen must only accept jobs they are reasonably able and legally allowed to carry out.
- Tradesmen are responsible for their own work quality, legal compliance, insurance, licences, taxes, invoices, refunds outside platform controls, and customer service.
- Credential review by TheOddJob is a platform trust signal only. It is not a guarantee of skill, licensing, insurance, identity, fitness to work, or legal compliance.
- Tradesmen must quote honestly and must not use payment records to misrepresent work, payment, or completion.
- Tradesmen must respect client privacy and must not copy, sell, share, or misuse client contact, address, document, or job information.
- Tradesmen must not pressure clients to avoid platform safety, reporting, or payment controls where those controls are available.
- TheOddJob may restrict, suspend, remove, or request admin contact from a tradesman where reports, credential issues, safety concerns, payment concerns, or misuse require review.
5. Business Accounts
Business accounts are separate, contract-based accounts with extra features where enabled. They may require approval, verification, billing setup, active business ownership, and a separate business agreement.
Business features may include:
- Creating or requesting a business account by contract.
- Business owner, manager, tradesman, and client contact member roles.
- Business invitations and member access controls.
- Business request dispatch to approved business members.
- Business member verification status and verification request workflow.
- Business plan, billing status, verification allowance, and verification credit ledger.
- Business payment setup where a business is the payee for a business request.
- Admin approval before business features become active.
- Business-level records for members, requests, dispatch history, payments, verification, and account status.
Business limits and responsibilities:
- Business accounts are not automatically available to all users.
- Business accounts must be approved and may require a separate signed agreement.
- Business access does not give the business unfair priority over normal clients or individual tradesmen.
- Business owners and managers are responsible for member access, member permissions, accurate business details, billing compliance, and lawful use of personal data.
- Business owners and managers are responsible for dispatching only suitable members to a request and for keeping business team access up to date.
- Business tradesmen should only receive the business requests they are assigned or dispatched to, and should only use the request information for that job.
- If a business owner leaves, deletes, or disconnects a personal account, business control may be restricted until ownership, management, payment, and open request responsibilities are reviewed or reassigned.
- Removing a personal account does not automatically delete business records, completed request records, payment records, verification records, or records TheOddJob must retain for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or platform operation.
- Verification allowances and credit top-ups are platform records used to request eligible verification checks. They are not cash balances unless a separate written business agreement says otherwise.
- Free verification checks may not spend credits. Paid or enhanced verification checks may reserve, spend, release, or adjust credits through the business ledger.
- Business users must not use client, tradesman, or member information outside the purpose for which it was shared.
- TheOddJob may disable or refuse business features where the business account is not approved, billing is not valid, verification is incomplete, or safety concerns exist.
- If business features are not available, users should contact TheOddJob business support directly.
Business account enquiries should be sent to business@theoddjob.ie.
6. Requests, Quotes, And Job Records
Service requests, quotes, documents, reviews, reports, payment records, and admin notes may be kept as job records.
- A request records the job information supplied by the client.
- A quote records the amount, terms, and notes supplied by the tradesman.
- A job document should only contain information relevant to that job.
- Status updates are used to help both sides understand the request stage.
- For business requests, dispatch records may show which business members were assigned, declined, cancelled, or active for the request.
- Users should check the latest quote and job record before relying on it.
- TheOddJob may retain job records where needed for account operation, payment review, safety review, legal compliance, dispute handling, fraud prevention, or audit records.
- A completed request may only be reopened under platform rules, within a limited window, and not indefinitely.
Limits:
- TheOddJob does not guarantee that every request will receive a response.
- TheOddJob does not guarantee that every quote will be accepted.
- TheOddJob does not guarantee trade work, workmanship, timelines, materials, site safety, or final job outcome.
- TheOddJob may remove or restrict records, files, or accounts that are unsafe, unlawful, abusive, irrelevant, false, or used to bypass platform protections.
- TheOddJob quote records, payment records, and receipt summaries are platform records only. They are not VAT invoices or tax invoices unless separately issued by the tradesman.
7. Payments
Payment features depend on what is enabled for the user, the job, and the tradesman.
Payment features may include:
- Where card payments are available, payment details are processed securely by Stripe. Stripe availability, verification, fees, disputes, delays, refunds, and account restrictions may be governed by Stripe's own terms and systems.
- Cash payment recording.
- Bank transfer payment recording.
- Payment method selection by the client.
- Payment acceptance settings by the tradesman.
- Business payment setup where an approved business is the payee for business work.
- Business payment confirmation by an authorised business owner, manager, or assigned member where the workflow allows it.
- Admin payment review where a card payment, release, dispute, or safety issue requires checking.
Payment limits:
- Stripe processes card payments where card payments are available.
- Cash and bank transfer payments are handled directly between the relevant client and payee. The payee may be an individual tradesman or, for a business request, an approved business account. TheOddJob may record the workflow but does not move the money for those methods.
- Where a business is the payee, the business is responsible for its own banking details, internal staff payment, taxes, invoices, refunds outside platform controls, and legal payment obligations.
- Tradesmen remain responsible for invoices, taxes, refunds outside platform controls, and legal payment obligations where they are the payee.
- Users must not mark payments as sent, received, completed, or released unless that statement is true.
- Payment options may change, be unavailable, or be restricted where account safety, verification, Stripe status, or admin review requires it.
8. Credentials And Verification
Credential features are intended to improve trust, not to replace user judgement.
- Tradesmen may upload credential details or documents.
- Admin may mark credentials as pending, verified, rejected, or needing review.
- Admin may request a short verification call before enabling or restoring some account features.
- Business owners and managers may request eligible business member verification checks using the business verification workflow.
- Verified credentials are a platform signal only.
- Clients should still make their own checks before hiring, especially for regulated, insured, licensed, electrical, gas, structural, safety-critical, or specialist work.
- TheOddJob may request updated credentials, remove a credential signal, or restrict account features if credential information appears inaccurate, expired, incomplete, unsafe, or misleading.
9. Reports, Reviews, And Administration
Reports and reviews help protect platform quality and user safety.
Report and review features may include:
- Client reports about tradesmen.
- Tradesman reports about clients.
- Admin review of repeated reports or serious concerns.
- Review submission after completed work.
- Report resolution or report retention by administration.
- Account notices asking a user to contact administration.
Limits and rules:
- Reports and reviews must be honest, relevant, and based on real platform activity.
- Users must not submit false, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or retaliatory reports or reviews.
- TheOddJob may remove content that is irrelevant, unsafe, abusive, unlawful, private, or clearly false.
- TheOddJob may restrict account actions while reports are being reviewed.
- Repeated reports may result in a message asking the user to contact administration before further action is taken.
- Admin decisions may include keeping reports on record, clearing reports after review, restricting account features, suspending accounts, or removing accounts.

- TheOddJob should not use non-essential analytics or marketing cookies unless users are clearly told and given the required choice.
- Users can change cookie choices using the cookie settings link where available.
12. Safety, Abuse, And Account Restrictions

13. Service Availability And Changes
TheOddJob is still being developed and may change over time.
- Features may be added, removed, disabled, renamed, or changed.
- Business account features may be disabled or limited until the business side is properly arranged, approved, secured, and supported by account controls.
- Payment options may depend on Stripe, account status, user role, country, verification, and admin controls.
- TheOddJob may update these terms when the platform changes.
- Material changes should be reflected in a new version or updated date.
